Navarre-, First Captain of Port Kar. |
Understand that these are not all of the positions that you will eventually learn. In fact, this is a fairly short listing of basics that is tailored almost completely for white-silked kajira. There are some here which are not (full Nadu is an example) but are included so that you will know what you are seeing when others do it, and understand what it means.
The positions outlined in here likely have variances that you find throughout on-line Gor and RL. However, these are the commonly understood usages and positions taken, suitable for any kajira to be proficient in.
Its important to remember you are the eyes and ears of the one you are serving; be sure to describe your own movements, how your body lies, your skin tone, eye and hair colour, the effects of the silks you are wearing (if any), sounds, and especially, your own inner reactions that you are experiencing as you move into these positions.
- Bara
- A binding position. The slave lays on her belly, her head turned as she presses her left cheek against the tiles. Her legs are straight out behind her she crosses her ankles, placing her hands at the small of her back, crossing her wrists.
Collaring- The slave kneels at the Master's feet. Resting back upon her heels she holds her back straight, her arms held upwards over her head to cross at the wrists, her head between them lowered.
Har-ta!- This is not a slave position.. but any position or command followed by this word means to perform the position or command quickly. In the literal sense Har-ta means "quicker" or "faster".
Karta- This position is often used in slight variation when a slave begs entry to a Tavern/Inn. She drops to her knees, either nadu or tower, and presses her forehead to the tiles. Her arms are stretched out before her, her palms face down and fingers splayed open.
Kneeling/Low Bracelet- The slave kneels, nadu or tower, her back arched, her arms extended before her crossing at the wrists. Her head lifted she drops her eyes to the tiles.
Kneeling/Low Lesha- The slave kneels, nadu or tower, her back arched as she sweeps her arms behind her, wrists crossed at the small of her back. Her head turns to the left and she drops her eyes, lips often parted lightly. The slave is now positioned for the Master to leash her.
Kneeling to The Whip- This position is used for the administration of punishment. The slave kneels with her head to the ground, her face turned to the left. Her arms are crossed at the wrists beneath her body. The bow of her back exposed and accessible to the Master.
Nadu- This position is the most commonly used. There are many variations of it (also see Tower Nadu) but this is most standard. The slave drops to her knees before the Master (Tower Nadu before a Mistress), her thighs part widely and she rests her butt onto crossed ankles. Her back arched she lifts her chin proudly and drops her eyes submissively. Her hands should be resting palm upward and open against her thighs. Note that this is also known as the Position of the Gorean Pleasure Slave, assuming this position tells the Master or Mistress that you are ready to serve them in any way, including sexually.
Obeisance- The slave drops to her belly and crawls to the Master. Her head turns and she rests her cheek onto His feet, her arms drop to her sides, kissing and licking at His feet in complete obediance and submission. The palms are placed to either side of her head as she kisses and licks his feet.
Standing as a Gorean Slave Girl [also known as 'Display']- Back straight, head held high, belly sucked in, hip turned, wrists crossed behind back, one leg slightly forward, foot arched, toes pointed.
Standing/High Bracelets- A binding position. The slave stands, her feet are shoulder width apart. Her head is lifted high and her eyes are lowered, her arms stretched before her, wrists pressed together.
Standing/High Leasha- The slave stands with her feet shoulder width apart. Her arms sweep around to cross her wrists at the small of her back. Her head lifts and she holds it to the left, her hair drawn to that side, parting her lips slightly and lowering her eyes.
Suga- See karta.
Sula- The slave lies down, her back flattened against the floor she spreads her legs. Her arms are stretched down her sides and her hands rest palm upward, her eyes dropping as her head turns to face the left and she awaits the Master's pleasure. Note that sula may also be performed by white silks, with the thighs held closed, feet together and pointed slighty downwards
Submission- The slave kneels, bending at her waist she places her cheek to the floor. Taking the Master's right foot she places it upon her neck, her arms sweeping behind her, crossing at the wrist against the small of her back. This is also considered an Obeisance.
Submitting to the Collar- The slave kneels, nadu or tower, and tilts her head to the left and brushes her hair back in that same direction to bare her neck, then extends her arms forward towards the Master, with wrists crossed.
Tower Nadu- The slave drops into nadu (see Nadu) but her thighs are closed. There are several variations regarding the slaves hands, palm upward, palm downward and wrists crossed are commonly accepted as being correct. If not commanded otherwise, default to palms downwards upon the thighs. Crossing the wrists conveys the message that the slave is begging to be restrained, and perhaps even collared.
Whip- A punishment position. This position is very similar to bara (see Bara) the only difference being that the slave rests her butt onto her crossed ankles, her torso leans forward to press breasts to the ground. This stretches her back to perfection, her arms stretched before her, her head turned to the right. The back and butt are then exposed to the Master's will.
Palms upwards, or facing outwards, is indicative of submission, vulnerability, and sexual surrender to the Master.
Fingers spread wide apart is further indication of both vulnerability to the Master, and desire for him.
Palms downwards on the thighs, is also indicative of submission and vulnerability, but does not indicate an offering of sexual service to the Free Person. It is proper for kajirae to use "palms down" before a Mistress, and for all restricted kajira at all times.
Proper decorum and submission calls for the eyes to be downcast unless the head is positioned to indicate otherwise, or the Master has commanded otherwise.
This is an on-line Gorean convention; in the Scrolls it is common for a kajira to gaze at the Master's eyes unless the kajira is in trouble and seeking to demonstrate fully her submission.
Crawling on the belly is used for very specific reasons, the first of which is to placate a Master if the Master is upset or the kajira has made a serious mistake.
The second is to communicate need for the Master: the need to demonstrate submission and/or the need to communicate a sexual desire, depending on how it is done.
And last, crawling is used in the performance of certain forms of obeisance.
Other than that, do not crawl! A Gorean kajira is supposed to be proud. The kajira should be proud of her skill and talent, her capacity for love and devotion, and her ability to be pleasing.
If a kajira offers a Free Person wholly of herself, she will be required to give what she has offered if the Free Person chooses to accept it. There are no exceptions to this. Kajira are not permitted to tease like so many of Earth do, with no intention of fulfilling the promise of the tease. To do so is not only an insult to the Free Person, but shows a lack of integrity and dishonour [Ed. Note: it is interestng that Navarre-, who penned these lines, once agreed that slaves had honor!] within the kajira.
Understand that kneeling nadu is to kneel in the position of the Gorean Pleasure Slave. The Gorean Pleasure Slave exists to serve the Master, and it is implicit in the nadu that her full sexual service is at his disposal. If you kneel in nadu, you are offering that to the Master, you had better be able to fulfill that promise. Hiding behind restrictions or a collar is absolutely no excuse if you do this.
Some Masters get upset if you do not kneel in nadu to them. There are a number of ways around that. First, you can simply not state the position of your thighs as you are kneeling. For example, 'kajira kneels before the Master', will suffice. Secondly, you can speak with the Master ahead of time, informing him of your restrictions, and begging permission to kneel nadu even though you cannot fulfill that offer. If he gives his permission, you can then kneel nadu to your heart's content before that Master, and never have to alcove with him.
From time to time, a kajira may find herself in a situation which she feels will be harmful to her, or against her restrictions, and the one commanding her may not be willing to cease what they are doing. There are three ways for a kajira to deal with such a situation. In all cases, it is highly advisable for the kajira to have logged the situation and saved that log to show the proper Master(s) what happened, for full resolution. Without a log, it comes down to the kajira's word against a Free Person's word, not a good situation to get into.
The first is the On-Line Kajir Disclaimer. This is to be used in emergencies as an escape. Install it as a pop-up and display it, then immediately save the entire buffer of events leading to the situation, exit the channel, and seek the Owners, showing the log so that they can resolve the issue. If they are not on-line, leave irc and return later, when they are. This is an example, and of course will require tailoring to fit the precise kajira's situation.
This kajira begs Your pardon and forgiveness, Master, but my Owners have forbidden me to do these things, and have directly commanded me to post this to you and leave if this situation arises, not returning until They are present and have reviewed this log. They have also instructed me to tell you that if you choose to take exception, to seek them out in #the-Lara-inn on DalNet to discuss the matter at any time. This kajira wishes you well and must leave now.
The second bail-out works anywhere, any time. Log the channel or pm, whatever was going on, and simply close mIRC. Do NOT exit the channel, do not disconnect, exit the program itself. This will leave some room for question as to precisely how or why you left. This is not the preferred method, but since you will have logged the entire incident before you closed mIRC, and will be heading straight to your Owners to show it to them for their resolution, they can handle the situation retroactively, by simply saying that they would have ordered you to have done what you did.
Obviously, with any of these methods, you need to be in the right. That cannot be overstated. Do not wait until things are totally out of control, the log is your safety valve, your 'free-ticket out': out of trouble, that is. The log is what proves you had just cause to behave the way you did.
And always bear in mind that this is on-line Gor. It is not RL (real life), you do have a way to get out of bad situations if you need to do so.
The-Lara-inn is an Inn: not a brothel, not a paga den. This means that a certain level of decorum is always expected from both guests and kajira. Open scening is allowed in tLi, but depending on the guests of the moment, it may be discrete to direct the Master to an alcove if his attentions are in danger of inciting distaste in a viewer. A simply whispered "Master, a girl's Owner would prefer that this kind of scene be taken to alcove." should suffice. If not, message a Staff Member and let him/her take it from there.
If you are taken to a Master's lap or are at his feet and are subsequently greeted or asked to serve by another, simply do the following: "kajira smiles softly at MasterB from MasterA's lap/feet, then returns her attention to MasterA."
When alcoving, ALWAYS add the designation -alc to your nick, and inform the Master that it is the custom of the Inn for him to do the same. At NO time are you to leave the Inn to alcove, and you may QUOTE Me on that. If the Master wishes to hide you, you might ask yourself why.
In some parts of Gor, the hand-feeding of a kajira is the ritual of taking ownership of that kajira. By feeding from the Master's hand, he has offered to sustain and care for the kajira, by eating from the Master's hand, the kajira has accepted this. This is primarily a Tuchuk custom. This is not the case in tLi, but many are aware of this custom and could become upset or possessive should it be seen to occur. Therefore, avoid feeding from the hand of any who is not a Staff Member of the Inn, if you wear the tLi collar.
Girls in training may absolutely NOT take food from the hand of any but Oryx or His Staff.
Gifts will sometimes be offered to a kajira. A kajira may not own anything. Thus, if a kajira is given a gift, that gift is actually being given to his/her Owner, who may or may not choose to allow the kajira to hold it for them. Understand this distinction clearly. In most cases, you are not permitted to make the decision to accept a gift, that is your Owner's decision, or the Staff of the channel, if you wear the channel collar.
It has been said over and over and over again: Gor is not fair. It is used as justification for all manner of behavior, or to explain an unhappiness. It sounds good, too. Unfortunately, it's not very accurate. Gor is extremely fair, it is the epitome of fairness. When a kajira comes to on-line Gor, no one has forced that kajira to do so. They chose to. They can also choose to leave. When a kajira takes a collar, it is by the kajira's choice that they did so. They know the possible consequences of taking that collar, and what it means. Unfair? No. Gor is full of consequences, and people accepting and living with those consequences to their actions. If anything, Gor may be likened to a force of nature in that the natural course of events will follow, regardless of what others may think is fair or unfair. A thunderstorm is not fair, nor is it unfair, any more than a breezy warm summer day. Gor is Gor. And because we have all chosen to be of Gor, Gor is Fair.
However... frequently a HNG or wannabe will invoke the "Gor is not fair" blather to mask the inappropriateness or sheer assininity of some statement or request he is making. In this case, Gor will give him exactly what he desires: a chance to cry out, on his own behalf, "Hey! That's not FAIR!" Bring such nonsense to the immediate attention of the Staff.
As with so many other aspects of Gor, even the kneeling of the kajira before the Master has meaning and significance.
22:156 It is customary for a kneeling kajira to kneel a few feet back from the Master. The kneeling itself expresses the kajira's servitude and submission. The distance serves four primary purposes:
Gor is rich with metaphor and symbology and ritual, some of which may be utilized as shown below to tell a Master of your sexual needs, without being unduly blatant about it.
A verbal method which can be used is to bring the wine, serve it, then beg him to take the Second Wine (herself).
