Always remember that on-line Gor is not real life. We are here for very specific reasons, however. We are here to train for real life, to learn about Gor and its Ways, to share and grow amongst ourselves in the Ways of Gor, amongst good and like-minded friends. And for some of us, we are here to substitute, to 'get a Gor-fix' instead of the real life Gorean Way that we desire.
Yes, some are here for other reasons, to find a Master, or a slave, or to simply experience Gor vicariously when real life Gorean living is denied us for whatever reason. Some are here simply for the possibility of cybersex. If cybersex is a priority for you, there are numerous non-Gorean cybersex oriented channels which will cater to your every whim.
Everyone has their own reasons for coming to on-line Gor.... But consider this: being in on-line Gor effectively takes a great deal of one's time and energy, so make it worth your time and energy, not to mention what you're paying for access to the Internet.
Can it be done? Can a Master or a kajira be of Gor all the time? The answer varies quite a bit with individual circumstance, however, it can indeed be done. Consult The Three Disciplines for an example of how to mesh Gor with reality on Earth, for the kajira.
The bottom line is that it can be done, and is being done by many Goreans; Masters, Mistresses, and kajira. Once you have lived it, very much of what may be difficult to understand becomes crystal clear.
However, while you can live the philosophy of Gor, it is impossible to live as a Gorean as described in the Scrolls. One: slavery is illegal. Two: Might does not equal right in today's society. Three: Children who go to school and talk about their mommy being chained to a loop on the floor for sleeping are going to get you a visit from Family Services, pronto. A bit of reality needs to be part of this whole fantasy we enjoy.
This is very straightforward: the Gorean Master wants everything, and more. It is not sufficient for a kajira to be merely a sex-toy, the Master will take that just for starters, or as an aside. The true Master is not satisfied unless he owns the kajira fully, mind and body, heart and soul. He owns her, and will not accept anything less than all of what he owns. The kajira's thoughts and emotions, her talents and skills, her hopes and her dreams, and yes, even her nightmares. All of her, belongs to her Master.
In the Gorean Way, in the total ownership of the kajira, the Master also aquires certain responsibilities. Yes, she is his property, but that will mean that he takes care of his property as best he can. The kajira is human property, and humans have needs and requirements which must be met in order for them to be at their very best. In the ownership of the kajira, the Master will foster those things which are best in the kajira, and not tolerate those things which are are harmful to her, or make her less than she should be. The Master will be proud of his property, and will require that she be such that he can take pride in her, and his training of her. After all, his choice of the kajira is a direct reflection upon him, his tastes and his abilities as a Master. If she is serving, others will look upon her service and its quality will reflect directly upon the Master. Others will know by her behavior, her service, her demeanor, how much effort the Master has put into the girl, and how good a Master he is. Or is not.
On-line, in whatever venue of Gor you are in, it is not possible to fully own the kajira, in all ways. For true Mastery, the relationship must move to real life, sooner or later, where the Master can be a true Master to the kajira, and the kajira, a true kajira. However, on-line is not a bad place to start.
In Gor, bondage is used to impress upon a woman her vulnerability,
17:206 ... helplessness, and subjectiveness to the Master. To make fully manifest her slavery to him, in no uncertain terms.
Also, of course, for many, a woman is made even more beautiful and exciting when in restraints, utterly subject to the Master's Will. This latter reason is almost incidental, however. Gor is not about BDSM. In fact...
2:53 [in] Gor, sado-masochism is considered an aberration, a sickness, and it is almost never encountered.
These things alone would vastly separate Gor from BDSM venues, but of course, there are other very telling differences to consider, as we have covered in earlier parts. Ritual and symbology are very important to the Gorean Way. One such symbol is the collar of the kajira. It is the physical, manifest icon of the kajira's nature and servitude, removing all question as to the status of the kajira. It need not be a band of steel, it can be something as simple as a velvet choker, in real life. The kajira knows the reality behind it, that a more substantial collar can be placed on the neck at any moment, if the Master deems it either necessary, or pleasing to him. This symbol of the kajira's bondage to the Master is but the first of many, and one leads directly to the next. Will the Master place cuffs on the kajira? Or perhaps the sirik, the chains? A slender, attractive walking chain? Each thing that the Master does adds not only a physical bond, but trains the kajira in no uncertain terms that she is controlled, absolutely, by the Will of the Master.
Often it will be noted that a newer kajira is far more heavily laden with these symbols of servitude, than a more experienced kajira would be. The reason is simple; the new kajira is still learning, perhaps even still testing the limits of her imbondage to the Master. As such it is a kindness to keep her confined within the space of these sorts of physical symbols, so that she can't exceed them, and get herself into trouble. Moreover, it trains her body, her reactions and her reflexes, to operate within the boundaries set by the Master, even as the symbols themselves help her to condition her mind to it's fullest, deepest understanding of her circumstances, and her nature. A more experienced kajira already knows these lessons, and usually wears the physical symbols for the pleasure of doing so, as they are a constant reminder that her Master not only cares enough set her limits for her, but also takes both comfort, and even joy, in knowing that she cannot be displeasing by inadvertantly exceeding those limits. It permits her to relax fully, and find the freedom of the chains.
And of course, many who come into Gor, do so from a BDSM venue, and while Gor has its own particular reasons for using the implements of bondage, many enjoy the chains and whips and whatnot, for all of the sexually charged pleasures they can bring. But understand clearly this; those BDSM reasons are not the primary reasons in the Gorean Way.
It should be noted that We of tLi recognize that the correlation between BDSM and Gor for many is very strong, and take serious issue with those on ANY side of the coin when they denegrate the lifestyle of anyone else.
