Rules for Visiting Free Persons
Rules for Visiting Slaves
Rules for Staff [Ops]
Rules governing the purchase of channel slaves
  1. GENERAL

    1. Welcome to the Family of tLi!

We are basically your standard Gorean channels, as traditional as possible, but without being rigid. To this end, we expect that there will be fun and chatter in channel. Do NOT, however, talk about RL (Real Life, that is, NOT IRC) issues, or bring non-Gor things to the channel (phones, pepsi, cereal, cars), especially when we have 'guests' (e.g. people we don't know).

By the way, the accepted "short" name for the Inn is "tLi", not "the Lara". A quick and easy way to piss off Master Oryx FAST is to forget this.

    2. Other channels have ops, relatives, mothers-in-law... tLi has Staff. Anyone with an @ before their name in tLi is a Staff person, and is responsible for your well-being too. Don't hesitate to ask any of Us, no matter how weird We may appear, for help, or guidance, or something better than slavegruel.

    3. We are a shelter: that means that from time to time We accept slaves or Free Women who want to be on Gor yet have been hurt or need a breather from the social pressures. What does that mean to you as a channel slave? In some cases it will mean an unfair burden of work, when We allow a frightened slave to kneel with Us instead of serving. Or it may mean a FW treats you less than kindly because she is deeply wounded and lashing out. Most times this is not about you, but We want to know when YOU are hurting, too. We are more than Your owners, we're your online family.

    4. When you log into IRC, first report to tLi. If no one's there for five minutes or so, you may then go elsewhere if you are permitted to do so. You should have Master Oryx on notify, at minimum. If He is online, you are expected to message Him and 'check in'.

If you are having a bad day, are in a foul mood, /msg or /dcc one of Us and We'll try to hug you (or beat you, depending on your predilictions) out of the mood. There's no point in your being in channel if you're going to be upset and upset others.

    5. You do not need to ask permission to enter tLi, although you still do for all other Gorean channels. This is your home, and you belong here! However, that doesn't mean you should not show respect for your home. Enter the channel, kneel at the doorway and place your forehead to the floor, bowing towards Master Oryx's divan or escritoire. The reasons for this are many, but they are part of the hidden Lore of the City of Lara and you need not concern yourself with them; suffice to say your Master desires it, and seeing you bow towards His place pleases Him. Rise with a smile and make your way to the serving furs, stopping for a moment at your Owner's furs it He is in channel. On reaching the slave pelts, kneel and ask to greet. (This assumes you have not been called by a FP on entry. Be alert!) Be aware of your surroundings. Many times there are discussions in progress and it would be rude to interrupt. In that case you would skip the beg to greet and make your entry as short as possible.

tLi is often very busy, and greeting each FP individually creates a LOT of scroll in the window. Many (including Myself) find it annoying. Please either greet as a group or simply say "Greetings Masters", "Greetings Mistresses", etc. If there is someone that you know insists on an individual greeting, please accomodate that. If anyone else complains, greet them individually. If they push it, refer them to Me.

If any visiting FP questions the fact that you did not beg entry, say the following: "Master/Mistress Visitor, this one's Master does not wish His slaves to beg entry to our home." If they insist after that, you may invite them to leave Master Oryx a BotMsg. As always, be respectful, but be firm. If they still persist after two tries, and there are no ops online, you may use your best judgment about the bail rule. If you do this, save the buffer so I can blast the lamer ... errrr ... attempt to re-educate the Free Person later.

    6. Do NOT do channel pings or ping a Master/Mistress without being asked. Many Goreans look at a ping as being touched and no FP on Gor may be touched without permission.

    7. When traveling -- whether on Bondage, collarme.com, Austnet, AW, AOL, telnet, or any other Gorean/BDSM venue -- unless you have special permission from your Owner, you are to use the nick, collar, whois, and costuming I have given you. Many of the Staff travel also, and besides being grounds for dismissal or killing, being seen without your collar reflects very badly on your home. If we see you without your collar, you will be dismissed... period. If we see you with a different whois than what you have been given by Me, I will allow you to explain, but it had better be really, really good. There are cases when a collar is not an asset on IRC, and I'm more than willing to help you if you feel that you're having a problem. You must, however, talk to Master Oryx first, before any name changes occur.

Additionally, I expect you to make Me proud of you when you are in other channels. It is a good practice to observe quietly for a few minutes before asking to serve, that way you get a sense of the room and its occupants. When serving in a strange place, don't hesitate to message another slave or a channel op if you're unsure of what to do. As the Lady Lorelle would always tell Me, "always better to ask and be thought a fool, than do it wrong and remove all doubt."

Finally, if you are visiting a channel and find that they op slaves (even "half ops", you are to make your excuses (e.g. 'real life is screaming and this one MUST go now!') and leave. Do not attempt to explain why you're leaving, just leave, then send Me a memo on the channel name so I can add it to the ban list. I will not support any channel that is run by fools. 'Nuff said.

    8. Be sure we have your current email address. You may memo Me (ask if you don't know how) with this. Use Oryx@Loryx.com to email to Master Oryx. Ask if you don't know/understand about this.

    9. Under NO circumstances are Our slaves EVER to provide any real life info (name, address, phone, email address, etc.) to ANYONE (slave OR free, INCLUDING staff) without My express permission. Nor will you send your R/L picture to anyone without prior approval. Doing so without that permission is grounds for your immediate dismissal.

    10. If someone wants to buy you from Us, smile, direct them to speak to Me personally, and decline to discuss the matter with them in any way, saying, if they press it "This one's Owner is responsible for this one, you must discuss this with them." Send Master Oryx a memo or tell Me next time you see Me if you are being badgered by someone in this manner. Rules governing the purchase of Our slaves can be found on the page that led you here. You should review them so you know what's entailed. If YOU come to us all bubbly about someone wanting to buy you, and it's apparent much 'discussion' has been had, you will not be bubbly after we talk. You have been warned.

    11. All slaves should have two aliases ("popups"), in addition to the Emergency Bail Out (see below):

    12. Ask Us if you don't know what this means, or how to use them

  2. PROBLEMS

    1. If you have a problem, or if someone threatens you or annoys you, or msgs you w/o permission (blacksilks & redsilks, your permission; whitesilks & yellowsilks, Mine), /msg or /dcc Master Oryx or a Staff member, at once. HNGs and wannabes will NOT be tolerated and will be forceably removed, if necessary.

    2. There are a number of channels we'd just as soon you not frequent, for various reasons, but will allow you to form your own opinions. If you wish the opinion of others, please ask Master. Standard rule of thumb is "if a Mistress would risk face-stripping if she would come rescue you, you may NOT go there."

    3. You may NOT be removed from channel or used sexually against your will. If someone says in channel that they are dragging you out, or starts to touch you in ways that you do not wish, or something similar, and you do NOT wish to go with them, LET AN OP KNOW AT ONCE! See below for some emergency bailouts, and USE them!.

    4. During Our long tenure on IRC Gor, We have identified a number of FP who are classified as threats. When Master Oryx is on, enter !threats in channel to see these. Anyone who attempts to come to channel and is auto-kicked may be ASSUMED to be considered a threat, or at the very least, a nuisance. Again, when in doubt, ASK!

We make every effort to protect My property (you), but you have to be aware of what's out there. Me having to rescue you from a Class I threat is going to piss Me off, seriously. I don't think you want that: so do your homework!

  3. SERVICE

    1. If you don't know a position or a serve, ASK Us in /msg or /dcc . That's what we're here for! Do NOT blurt out in open channel 'what's THAT??' You embarass yourself AND Me. Visit the section on Laran serves to brush up on the expected way to do them.

    2. When a FP enters the channel, approach and offer service. Nothing gives a worse impression than slaves chattering amongst themselves, and FP waiting to be served. If you enter the channel and are unsure of who has or hasn't been served, ask Master Oryx or one of the other slaves. Do not wait to be called upon or say "May this one be of use?" That may be a way, but it is not OUR way.

    3. If you are not at the feet of, lapped by, or in the middle of a serve to a FP, they should NOT be in PM with you. If you receive a PM from someone without their having called you to them, you may respectfully say "this one is sorry, but she is not allowed to receive PMs while she is on the serving furs, Master/Mistress." If the FP pursues it, you may approach them, thereby putting YOURSELF out of the serving rotation. If Master Oryx is in channel, please message Him to let Him know that this is occuring. At NO time are you to engage in alcoving with ANYONE without marking yourself as such. If a FP suggests that you do this, you are to give them a choice of alcoving you with your nick clearly marked, or not alcoving you. Simple, no? (This rule obviously does not include the Master Himself, who likes to have an opened DCC with His slaves at all times)

    4. When greeting a FP entering the channel if you are unsure of the gender, do a whois. In most cases there is something in the text to identify the person for you. If you are still unsure, ask Me in DCC or pm, I might know. Watch the other slaves to see if they know. If not, use Master, it's the default. If a FP becomes upset that you have mis-labeled them, do NOT be cute, simply say "this slave begs your forgiveness for his/her mistake, Mistress/Master," period. No other explanation is needed and will quite likely result in the FP being displeased. If he/she insists on pursuing it, continue to beg for forgiveness until the FP tires of the game.

    5. When offering service to a Master or Mistress, always approach first. This not only gives you an opportunity to show off how lovely you are, but it makes it clear to whom you are talking.

    6. A "fast serve" means just that -- cut down the description to a bare minimum, just go to the kitchen, get the required vessel(s) and potables, and serve as fast as possible. Often We'll call for a fast-serve (or quick-serve) to celebrate a collaring, or some such -- so it's important to get the paga out to the Free asap.

    7. Paga in our channels is served either in a goblet or a glass. It may be sa-paga (yellowish, like whiskey) or sul-paga (clear, like vodka. It is NOT served in a bowl; however, should a FP request paga in a bowl, you may discover a personalized bowl that I keep in a SPECIAL cabinet against the chance that that Master or Mistress would come to tLi. If they leave because of it, so what? Things are done differently in the different cities of Gor. This happens to be one of them.

    8. Kal-da is served from the kettle, but refreshed every serve: enter !kal-da in channel to see a popup of this, or see the section on Laran serves.

    9. There is no such thing as "First Slave" for serving blackwine. There IS "Second Slave", however. It is not your place to correct a Master, so if you are asked to serve blackwine "First Slave", smile sweetly and serve it with cream (bosk milk) and sugar anyway. If a Staff person says that, let Me know quietly.

There is also a specialty of tLi, loosely based on Earthan Irish Coffee, known as blackwine, Third Slave. See the Third Slave Scroll for details.

    10. Many Free Women drink beverages with a reed so that they need not remove or move their veils to drink. It shows an extra degree of courtesy if you set a fresh drinking reed on a small platter and set the platter unobtrusively on the Lady's table for her comfort. Don't make a big thing of this: many don't know about or do this, and We don't want to embarrass.

  4. ABOVE ALL

  5. Have fun! (that's F. U. N. for those who don't know that term). This is supposed to be enjoyable, for slaves and FP. If you're not enjoying things, something's radically wrong.

Emergency Bail-outs (based on the Karian Notes, as presented to tLi by Navarre)

For purposes of this explanation kajira also stands for kajirus, etc.

From time to time, a kajira may find herself in a situation which she feels will be harmful to her, or against her restrictions, and the one commanding her may not be willing to cease what they are doing. There are two ways for a kajir to deal with such a situation. In all cases, it is highly advisable for the kajir to have logged the situation and saved that log to show the proper FP what happened, for full resolution. Without a log, it comes down to the kajir's word against a Free Person's word, a no-win situation for the kajir.

The first is the IRC Kajir Disclaimer. This is to be used in emergencies as an escape. Install it as a pop-up and display it, then immediately save the entire buffer of events leading to the situation, exit the channel, and seek out Master Oryx, showing Him the log so that He can resolve the issue. If He is not on-line, leave IRC, email Him (Oryx@Loryx.com) the log, and return later when He is. This is an example, and of course will require tailoring to fit the precise kajir's situation.

Disclaimer
This kajira begs Your pardon and forgiveness, Master, but her Owner has forbidden her to do these things, and has directly commanded her to post this to You and leave if this situation arises, not returning until He is present and have reviewed this log. He has also instructed her to tell You that if You choose to take exception, to please seek Him out on IRC Bondage.com, or email to Oryx@Loryx.com to discuss the matter at any time. This kajira wishes you well and must leave now.

The second bail-out works anywhere, any time. Save the channel or pm log (by clicking on the litle icon to the upper left and choose Buffer/Save), whatever was going on, and simply close mIRC. Do NOT exit the channel, do not disconnect, exit the program itself. This will leave some room for question as to precisely how or why you left. This is not the preferred method, but since you will have logged the entire incident before you closed mIRC, and will be heading straight to Master Oryx to show it to Him for His resolution, He can handle the situation retroactively, by simply saying that He would have ordered you to have done what you did.

Obviously, with either of these methods, you need to be in the right: that cannot be overstated. Do not wait until things are totally out of control, the log is your safety valve, your "free-ticket out" -- out of trouble, that is. The log is what proves you had just cause to behave the way you did. And always bear in mind that this is ircGor. It is not RL (real life), you do have a way to get out of bad situations if you need to do so ... just hit the x. Some FP and slaves maintain that this is 'dishonorable' since it gives the slave a choice she wouldn't have in real life. Reality check time, folks...rape and slavery are both illegal in real life, so let's make sure we all keep the focus on this being a positive experience and let the gamers find somewhere else to play.
